Kristin Demchuk er gestalistamaður Gilfélagsins í mars. Kristin býr og starfar í Kanada og hefur lært bæði við háskólan í Calgary (BFA), Kanada, og háskólan í Guelph (MFA), Kanada.
Í verkum mínum leita ég eftir því að íhuga hringrásina á milli líkamans og vélar, á milli áþreifanlegra og eiginlegra snjónarmiða efnisins.
í gegnum aðferðafræðilegan feril, kanna rannsóknir mínar hvernig aðferðir og tækni upplýsa hvort annað, í gegnum bæði vana líkamans og vitrænt atferli. Með því að samtvinna tækni og aðferðir hef ég áhuga á að skapa afsprengi af stafrænu handverki sem innilmar hringrás af flutningi frá flaumrænni yfir í stafræna tækni sem skilur eftir ummerki eftir einstaklingin. Nýlegar rannsóknir mínar hafa leitt af sér verk sem kanna sögu textíls og sambands þeirra við stafræna miðla. Með því að rannsaka aðferðir þessara tveggja tækna, sambands endurtekinna athafna kóðunnar og tvíundar nátturu vefnaðar og prjóns hefur fætt af sér nýtt mynstur innan listsköpunar minnar.

Kristin Demchuk is the guestartist of the Gil Society in March. Kristin lives and works in Kanada and has studed in the University of Guelph (MFA) and the University of Calgary (BFA).
My practice seeks a contemplation of the circuitry between the body and the machine, between the physical and virtual aspects of materials. Through a process-based practice, my research investigates how techniques and technologies inform one another, through both the habits of the body and through cognitive processing. By combining technologies and processes, I am interested in producing a form of digital craft-making that incorporates the circuitry of the transfer from analogue to digital technology while leaving the mark of the individual. My more recent research has lead to a body of work investigating the history of textiles and their relationship to digital media. Through investigating the techniques of these two technologies, the relationship between repetitive acts of coding and the binary nature of weaving and knitting has led to new patterns of emergence within my art practice.
